2004 200xs injector question
Hello all,
I have a question about 2.5 vs 3.0 fuel injectors. (Sorry about not posting engine ser #, it's still in shop right now.)
The engine is a 2004 mercury racing 200xs on a 20xrd bullet.
I took the boat to the shop to have the water impeller replaced and to address a rough idling issue. Mechanic informed me that the tracker valve was bad and that an injector was leaking down. Suggested that I send injectors out to Brucato to test and clean. (Had this done in 2014 also when compressor went out). Injectors came back with report and had to replace 2 air and 2 fuel. Today I receive a call from mechanic asking if engine has ever been "remapped". I told him not to my knowledge, of course I bought it used. He informed me that all the fuel injectors except for one were for a 3.0l and not a 2.5. Said he wasn't sure if this would be an issue or not since I've been running it this way since 2014 and if it had been remapped it could cause a lean mixture problem if he changed them all back to 2.5's.
So, what issues would this cause if the 3.0 injectors are left in a 2.5 ? Already up to $2500 on this bill.
Thanks

Going to need the engine's serial number in this case, without a doubt. I would not purchase any new components until items are verified BY SERIAL NUMBER.
IF the engine is what you say it is, it is a stand-alone set of rules (all to itself).

Thank you sir. I should pick the boat up today or tomorrow and I'll post ser # then.
