To pay or not to pay?

Or maybe I should ask, how big of a stink would you have made? State sticker ran out last month so I made an appt. the other day with Bob to have the car inspected at a local garage. Garage has a good rep and I've been happy with the service on our vehicles. Told Bob that the TPS light comes on but I'd check tire pressure and reset it when I get a chance (haven't really been home or driven the car in 2 weeks). He said no problem, it wouldn't impact the inspection so long as the tires are good.

Took it in today and sat in the waiting area until they finished. Bob had the day off. Bob apparently didn't put any notes in the service order so they spent 15 minutes putting 4# of "winter air" in all four and reset the idiot light. I paid the extra $20 but mentioned to the new guy at the counter that Bob and I had talked about it and the TPS issue wasn't going to be addressed. He offered to take it off the bill but I paid it anyway because they did the work and saved me the hassle. Would have paid or do you hold the line on unauthorized work?

I would pay, but also make sure that you tell Bob about what happened. Maybe he'll cut you a break at some point.

I won't pay the $2 for air at a convenience store. Out of your mind paying for something you didn't ask for. Especially since they didn't tell you or ask you.

thats only 5 bucks a tire

what you really need to find out is how many pounds of air it took.
lets say each tire took 2.5lbs of air, that's 2 bucks a lb...
the more air it took the better deal you got

I feel raped when I have to put $1 in the air stalls at the gas stations let alone $20 for all 4. But at the same time it's only $20.
