Mercury xr6 150 not reaching full rpm.

I have a 1998 Champion 181, with a 150 Mercury xr6. 23 tempest and no jackplate. Compression is perfect, but at WOT I am only seeing 5100 rpm at 55 mph on gps. I’ve seen similar setups hit 60 no problem. Would a jack plate help get the extra 4-500 rpm I’m needing, or do you think its in the motor?

Please take a moment to review the Announcements at the top of the Forum, and provide the Required Info when posting. Thanks!

Have you checked to make sure you are actually REACHING the WOT position at the throttle linkage, and that trigger is properly advancing to the full advance stop?

    Compression Test?
    Spark Test?
    Fuel Quality/Delivery Tests?

Jackplate will help get rpm up some, but like said above. Spark and fuel has to b confirmed before anything else, if you have a smaller prop maybe try it and see if you get more rpm and if so prob just sitting to deep
