New member to the G3 family

Saturday I took possession of a new to me G3 Eagle 175. It's powered by a 50 hp Yamaha, and came with a Helix 7 SI G2N, and a Helix 5 DI. A week before I bought it I found a good deal on a Garmin Echomap 73CV. So I have more graphs than I know what to do with. I think I'll put the Garmin up front and move the Helix 5 to the helm with the 7 and use the 5 for just mapping? Something I just thought of thigh is the 7 since it's a G2N will have Autochart. I guess I have 5 months to stare at the boat and ponder what to do with her. Even though I have to wait 5 months to launch her I'm pretty happy with it. Sure beats a 14' flat bottom I came from.

Any tips, ideas, and suggestions are encouraged and appreciated a head of time.

You have a fine boat that is built to fish. I have owned 4 G3’s. 3-18’ HP180’s and 1-20’ HP200. I keep returning to aluminum and will again some day. Likely will be another G3. They are forgiving and very tough. Best of luck with yours.

What kind of speeds can I expect with the 50 on the back?

There seems to be enough storage for me, I do wish the rod locker was a little bigger though.

Remove te rod tubes. I removed mine in my HP170 and I can fit my 8ft rods in my lockers. I am running 36.6 with my 70 Hp, may try and 15P SS prop and see what I can do with that.

It really depends. I have a Yamaha 60HP 4 stroke on my Eagle 175. Before I switched to a stainless prop I ran it a couple of times at 41mph trimmed with minimal weight on board @6500 RPM. I do about 35-37 with the stainless and a full load @5500 RPM.
For me, that is plenty fast in the rivers I fish.
    Question everything!

I'll see about removing them, thanks!

Yup plenty fast for me. I don't need to fly around. The biggest lake I have around is about 350 acres or so. Flying around isn't the priority on those lake so 30's will suit me just fine.
