Champion 181 prop/ set up help

I have a 1998 Champion 181, with a 150 Mercury xr6. 23 tempest and no jackplate. Compression is perfect, but at WOT I am only seeing 5100 rpm at 55 mph on gps. I’ve seen similar setups hit 60 no problem. Would a jack plate help get the extra 4-500 rpm I’m needing?

Jackplate set back should help some, So could raising the motor height. Weight placement in boat, prop condition, and making sure you are getting full pull on the throttle linkage.

Perfect shape dont mean it's perfect... There can be several mph difference between several brand new identical props.... They are not all the same. This is where a blueprinted prop can show some gains.

There can be several mph difference between different identical outboards.

There can be several mph difference between different identical hulls.

There can be several mph difference between different identical props.

So.... You could see 9 mph difference between several different identical rigs.

How would be the best way to determine I am getting a full pull on the throttle linkage? I need 500 more rpm. I just cant believe a 150xr6 with perfect compression cant sling a 23 tempest. It rockets out of the hole....Maybe the jack plate will help, but I cant see it gaining me the extra 500 rpm. Any other suggestions?

Get your RPM's verified by a Dealer. Analog tachs are know to be inaccurate.
