    Fall Migration Flight

Mother Nature can be sweet sometimes. No ducks or geese on opener turned to birds everywhere on Thursday upon arrival ahead of first big cold wave of the year for Oklahoma. From the worst to the best in a matter of 5 days. Teens and twenties Friday night had ice all over shallow water and leaves dropped like lead weights from trees. I love the arrival of late fall with ol man winter right behind. Watched many mallards test us only to move on. A few made the fatal mistake along with widgeon , gadwall, a pintail and some rocketing teal that landed before anyone could pull a trigger. A great early season bag of 18 for 5 shooters. A great start of the season that should do nothing but get better.
    enjoy

Locals are drying up here. Hoping they migrate pretty soon.

Nothing big migration wise here. Blustery windy cold front to rip through Nebraska/Kansas with snow. It could move a few. But it is not the major front we need. First season closes Sunday for 13 days.

Not here in Alabama YET. I remember back in the 80s we were on point system. You shot a hen Mallard, yo day over. 100 point duck.

We have nothing here right now but some late Teal and Gadwalls. Few local birds scattered but they are already gun shy.

Opening of second season here Saturday. Snow and ice moving in but from the south.
2 weeks off should make it good. We will see.

Our opener for second season was not so good in our area as numbers remain down. Glad to hear they are at least nearby.
it takes some badazz weather to knock them out of Kansas.
