    Elite 7TI And Bull Ants

So yesterday I started to install my new Lowrance 7TI. I got the TotalScan mounted up under the steppad with the surface mount and routed the transducer wire thrue the transom then I go in the battery capartment to grab what I thought was my transducer wire and it was about a 5ft black racer snake that went across my arm and all though I’m not afraid of snakes it scared the crap out of me because I didn’t know what kind it was at first. So it disappeared under the battery trays in the bildge area somewhere so no big deal he’s harmless. I continue to run the ducer wire in the wire tube that runs from the back to the console and now I feel something crawling on my hand and it was about ten bull ants and thank god I didn’t get bit because you know it when a bull ant tags you. I stick my head in the battery capartment to see hundreds of bull ants. Being ants hate water I was going to try and flush them out with the hose but I was afraid they’d be all over the boat if I did that. So the wire tube is full of them. What would be the best method of getting rid of them so I can finish up running the ducer wire?

Make sure you place them on something that can handle the heat. I wouldn't set them on fiberglass or carpet. I've used bricks or an upside down coffee can.

What happened with the snake? That would freak me out knowing it was in the boat!

He’s either gone or hiding out. It was a black racer. Totally harmless
