It does come at the cost of +30lbs though...so...depending on the application, one may be better than the other.
Of course the extra 70ci is going to make more torque, so why would anyone pay more for the V6 when the V8 is going to run just as fast topend yet provide a better holeshot? Both the outboards we're talking about use the same throttle body, so airflow is limited by it ultimately. So many say max out the hp on a boat and this is a case where I'd much rather have a 200 than 225.

Forgive me if I missed it, but how does the 300R compare in output vs a 300XS?

I would much rather see the torque numbers in 2 k increments from 2k to 6 than Hp at 4750, peak at 4750 does not tell you much about overall performance
    Thank You Leon Pugh

We know the 4-stroke makes 40% more torque at 2k rpm than the 2-stroke, you then have four points of reference basically with peak torque rpm which can then be used to calculate the hp as it's just a derivative (5252rpm). You have peak hp as you stated and then can work backwards to calculate torque and then hp goes flat to the rev range of 6200 with torque dropping off of course as they are limiting output by controlling the amount the electronic throttle body opens. They cross at 5252, so connect the dots and you have a pretty good idea of the power curve.

I'm not sure I can think of a situation where I'd give up 67 ft-lb for 30 lbs.

v6 is almost silent though so..I could see many foregoing the pro xs for noise issues. not me though super pumped I ordered a 200.. exact same hp as my old 225 opti
