What is the part called that holds shift cable

I pushed the shifter too hard and thought I broke the shift cable, but I see that it just slipped past this part that seems almost like a button that pushes in and holds the notched area on the sleeve end of the cable.
Is this like a safety precaution, that allows the cable to break free instead of break?
anyway, this one looks like it needs to be replaced and I do not know what it is called, anyone have an idea?

this is a part on an omc shift throttle lever

    thanks

post this on the OMC board you will get better response there, also you might be able to find a part breakdown if you can bring up the throttle shift lever on one of the places that sells parts.
