    Z520 ultrex length

What length ultrex are you running? Sensing between 45 and 52. I've been running a 52 fortrex for years. It is to tall when I fish shallow.

How well does a 45 do in waves? Does the unit act up when it comes out of the water?

If you primarily fish big waters, go with the 52.

I have the 45 and it has come out of the water on me, but the spot lock compensates it just fine/doesn't "act up".

I also use the 45, and like it just fine for the combination of big and small waters I fish. Anything over 2-footers, the 45 may pop out of the water momentarily, but operation continues when it re-enters. Like you, a taller trolling motor drives me crazy for casting to shallow targets, skipping under docks, etc.

Went with the 45 on my 119 and will echo jc2bg. It works fine even in rough water but will come out of the water in bigger waves.

I’ve been running my 36v ultrex in theee group 27 interstates with no issues so far so you shouldn’t be concerned with battery life as it’ll still last a whole day.

You're rolling the dice with those Interstate's....

I don’t see any significant difference. If anything, the Ultrex might do a bit better. But then, I am running a 36v Ultrex on a 519 versus the 36v Fortrex I had last season on a 520. I frequently fish tournament situations with lots of demand on the trolling motor—strong current in the Detroit River, bucking matted vegetation all day, or fishing windblown banks on Erie all day—and have never come close to slowing down this Ultrex. I have it connected to three 27 series Deka wet cells. Insisted on no Interstates when I bought the boat.

Smart man... I did the same thing.

I brought (4) 31 series X2/Northstar AGM's with me when I picked mine up from the dealer.

I'm running a 45". Only time it comes out is on Lake of the Ozarks. Ì spend most of my time fishing shallow so it works best for me.

I have it hooked up 3 Intimidator 31AGMs. No drops in power so far.
