    75hp Opti Belt change

Wondering if I can change the belt on my motor myself? Still looks great, but it has some years on it and want to change it before I have a problem. Looked on YouTube, but didn't see anything that would help with just a belt change.
Does it require any special tools or procedures? Or do you just take the tension off and replace the belt? Thanks!!

No special tools required- good idea to replace at 4 yrs or 400 hours, whichever occurs first.

A genuine Mercury service manual for your engine serial number is worth every penny. Have one for both my engines.

Been researching the manuals, but in the meantime, I discovered how to release the tensioner. Will have to get a manual anyway.

In a pinch... sure beats no belt.

I don't know that I would recommend this for permanent use, as all belts are not created equal (and most automotive belts don't stand up as well to continuous high-RPM usage). Belt debris can make a real mess when it ends up in the reeds, compressor, engine, etc.
