    Thumbs Up New boat!

It took a few years longer than I had hoped for, but that's okay. I finally achieved my life long dream of owning MY OWN boat. Just purchased a 2010 Skeeter ZX200 from another member here, I'm sure the majority of you will recognize this as Scott's old boat (doogie something is his username here, I forget what his username is exactly). It was awesome being in the Ranger the last 9 years, co-owning it with my Dad. It was essentially mine in everything but the title for the last 2-3 years, I paid for 100% of all of the upkeep in that time, but it still wasn't mine, and I really wanted something I could call my own. Got the day off from work tomorrow to get out while it's dry for once.

    Nice rig....congrats

I'll take a buddy with a boat over a boat with a note anyway though.

Thanks everyone. Took her out for the first trip yesterday...did not go well. Apparently the Talon broke, or just fell apart, but I didn't know until I went to leave and I heard the fiberglass rod part hit and scrape all the way up the launch. Likely a simple fix, but what a nightmare it was to get out of the water...

That sounds like something that would happen to me.
At least there wasn't 100 people at the ramp watching you.
Hope you can get it fixed up quick and cheap.

Good thing there wasn't, they would have been treated to a tirade the likes of which hasn't been heard since Clark got his jelly club membership Christmas bonus.

I had to reach under the talon to feed the fiberglass rod back in by hand, then hold it while I used my net to scoop the end of it, then stood my net up parallel to the Talon housing, and taped the handle of the net to the Talon. That kept the fiberglass rod part at least level with the bottom of the boat, enough to let me get the boat on the trailer. Then for the ride home, I wrapped my towel around it, and about a half dozen bungee cords too. Probably overkill, but I really did not want to take any chance of that rod slipping out and grinding itself down to nothing on the drive home....

At least you had a fix to get you home.
Did you figure out the problem yet ?

Not yet, my wife had to leave for work as soon as I got home so I didn't get a chance to pull it apart. Hopefully will get it done today after work before the rain hits.

I have heard of that happening to the earlier models, if that is what you have maybe there was a recall??

If not a re-call, I'm sure the past owner will take care of it for you since that was the 1st time you used it. IF you were not the one who created the problem. Only common Courtesy. Most boat owners are pretty decent.
