    Which Ultrex

Looking to replace my Fortrex with an Ultrex. Looking at all the different models of Ultrex I'm not sure which one I need. I am running Lowrance Gen 3 on Fortrex with HDMI transducer. It appears all of the Ultrex's come with either built in universal or the one made for Humminbird. Which one would you guys think I need ?

well hope this helps all ultrex comes with a ducer which is universal , but since you have a hdmi ducer use it since your a Lowrance guy just like you you are using it now , no need for Link that's only for Humminbird units length go with the length on your fortex and then of course we don't know what your running now 24 volt or 36

    you'll love it

The "existing" ones all have the US2 transducer (sonar only)......the new Ultrex they just released has the built-in HB down view transducer. Since you dont run HB units and IF you dont plan on running them then get the non link Ultrex.
YOU are not entitled to what I have earned!!!!!

these guys are right on. The Ultrex comes with a US2 transducer, compatable sonar to most depth finders. If you want structure, you'll need to use the external transducer, unless you're running Humminbirds, then you can get the DI built in transducer that will have both sonar and DI. Call me it I can help.

I was hoping that they changed that and got on board to support each other or some 3rd party could figure it out.

FWIW, there is no such thing as an HDMI transducer. HDMI is a digital input on your TV. You meant the HDI transducer.

I have an Ultrex and didn't like the US2 image on my Carbon. I went with the HDI one that straps on and wouldn't look back. I'm a Lowrance guy though like you.

Since we are both Lowrance - we cannot interface with the Ultrex like the HB so no benefit of that. Spot Lock is the best and I actually use the I-Pilot Link quite a bit to control the TM when I am in the back of the boat or seated by the console trolling looking at SS.

    Best purchase I made..

    Minn-Kota Ultrex 80 w/I-Pilot Link
Lowrance HDS9 Carbon Bow/Console with Structure Scan 3D (Thru Hull, Structure Scan xdcr, HDI on TM) and Point-1,

I know it's just terminology, but it could confuse someone else. From your description as a Lowrance user and the statement "we" cannot interface like the HB, I'm assuming you have the IPilot and not the IPilot Link. You're using the remote to control it from the back of the boat and not the IPilot Link.

Hey John - yep, in my haste to post I may have some terminology mixed up.

Thanks for clarifying, and I use the "remote" as you mention but mine is the Link version with a color touchscreen that has a few more features than the button model.

Still doesn't interface with my Lowrance though, the US2 does but that's it

Since you have the link version, you could get a Humminbird to run with the Lowrance up front. Use the Humminbird for things like 360, routes, trails, etc. that would operate through the link version. Use the up front Lowrance on the mapping and DI, then transfer waypoints from the dash to the upfront Lowrance.
    Just a thought.

Can't your purchase the improved remote separately?
