Looks like they are saying 3X the power output on SI .... but so far no major technology innovations announced. ... Control head only units available for those with the new trolling motors with transducer built in.

There is a new Helix 8 series.

The MEGA SI+ and MEGA DI+ transducers are larger than the G2N MEGA transducers.
Looks like the 8 is using the same new transducder.

The transducer used for the Minnkota looks the same as the MEGA DI transom transducer. I have not seen one to measure it. It's that tear drop shape. It is tuned to the same 2D and DI frequencies as both the MEGA DI and MEGA DI+ transducers.

Did you notice the Helix 7 MEGA units also in non-networkable and networkable versions G3 and G3N?
Different model transducer for each though---

Good move, Humminbird, in making Mega imaging available in smaller and more affordable units

The cabinet for the Helix 9 G3N has been reduced to a smaller more compact size and will share that size with the new Helix 8 MEGA SI /DI Brian

Didn't look at the 7 .... but not surprised it is a different transducer.

According to HB c/s the new units will network fully with the previous Gen. Units as long as the the newest released unit is the primary unit.

The Gen 2 Solix will network with the Gen 1 Solix and Onix

Thats what im most curious about?? Give us a unit with the processing and ram performance that our smartphones and tablets have. (Fast startup. Smooth and responsive buttons / touch screen. Quicker loading between sonar, gps, muti view. Etc...)

Looks like the Helix power draw spec is the same as the G2 series .... wonder how they are getting the extra imaging power without additional current draw.... or maybe the spec hasn't been fully updated yet?

Bob did you forget all about duty cycle?

The transmitter pulse lengths are very short and the higher you go in frequency, so it is with the pulse length too.

4 or 8 KW PTP is hardly a "thing" ... most of your power vacuum is in the LED back lighting and the CPU chomping control code.

I have a Helix 7 DI GPS G2. Wonder if I could benefit from any of the new transducers? Seems the dual spectrum is only the mega and I don't have that.
