Anual Sunday School camping/fishing trip in the books...11-1 thru 11-3

On Thursday November 1st arrived at Stockton Lake's Mutton Creek camp ground at approximately 12 noon. We had come up on Wednesday afternoon and set up camp already we could get on the water as soon as possible. It was pouring down rain but we came to fish so we put on our rain gear and launched the boat. Water temperature was 59.3*, the water was stained but not muddy, and the air temp was upper 40's. We fished for the first hour and a half without a bite so we decided to run back to the back of Mutton Creek itself. Good plan. We immediately got on fish and started hammering the bass pretty good. After they tapered off a little bit we decided to fish some flats and see if we could catch some white bass. That also paid off and we wound up catching several. That evening, just before sunset, the sun came out just briefly and set the fall tree colors on fire. It was awesome. When we got back to camp a couple of our buddies came pulling it from fishing the CC access area at Greenfield. They too had a mess of fish. Enough that the 4 of us already had our fish fry for 14 guys covered for Friday night. Friday and Saturday then we just played "catch and release" and we had a ball. We found the whites were running pretty thick out on the gravel flats.....the more wind the better. We thrashed 'em pretty good and had a ball. Friday and Saturday were both phenominal days for numbers of fish. The guy I fished with Saturday and I had doubles on 6 times. Amazing....Looking forward to our spring trip to Table Rock now. Hope ya'll are getting to go. The fall bite is awesome. Dress for it. Hope to see you out there.....
