    Ann Arbor Fishing

Are they any fishing opportunities in the Huron River or other bodies of water near campus or close to campus? I was thinking about bringing a fly rod up the next time I visit my daughter. I have gear for smallmouth and trout but was wondering if it was worth doing. I would be willing to get in touch with local fly shop for guided trip but was wondering if there was decent fishing around there.

Lots of smallmouth in the Huron. I’ve fished the metro parks along the Huron and done very well. Not sure when the season closes on the Huron though, you should double check that. Could also give a call to Schultz’s outfitters in Ypsilanti. http://schultzoutfitters.com

Thanks. Are parts of the Huron wadeable or do you mostly need a boat?

Parks are very wadeable and have bike trails that follow the river.
