Will this truck have a issue pulling a 2019 phoenix 21 PHX?

It should pull your rig fine.

It will do it but not as easily as the newer models with more hp and 6-8 speed transmissions. Make sure yoy use tow haul mode.

No problem. I had a 5.3 2WD and pulled at interstate speeds with no issue at all.

You’ll want the 3.73 rear end option if you’re looking to pull with any kind of authority. Those 4 speeds could sound like they were coming apart on larger hills at interstate speeds when they downshift if using cruise control.

I wouldn’t choose this combo for pulling “heavy” loads (I’m not talking about bass boats) for a living but for weekend use I have no real issues.

I have a 5.3 POS Silverado 2007 two wheel drive. It has a 3:73 or such rear gear with the G-80 option. I think it would pull that boat no problem, and a 4x4 should have an equal or better gear ratio.
Although I really feel I got screwed when I bought this POS I feel 315 horsepower should be sufficient for boat towing.

I believe it will do what you’re asking just fine. I have a 04 SuperCrew F150 with the 5.4 motor which is a gutless pos but I’ve pulled many trailers and my little boat just fine, it stops very well too.

Idk exactly what your boat weighs but at the ramp yesterday morning a guy had a Phoenix 21 with a 250 opti and dual poles and he was using a shortbed Chevy 1500...maybe an ‘09 and he said it pulled and stopped just fine. Beautiful rig!

    I have a 04 Silverado 5.3 4x4 z71 with 3.73 gears, I pull a 08 stratos 285 and I've always used 3rd gear, the boats not heavy enough to need tow haul.
When I bought the truck new I asked mechanic about towing with it, he advised to never use over drive.

If it has the towing package, which comes with a transmission cooler, I would think that using OD on the interstate would be fine. However if you’re in a hilly area I could see it creating higher temps in the drivetrain with the constant shifting.

This. Overdrive is fine on flat land and freeway speeds. If you use tow haul mode it wont allow the transmission to shift into overdrive unless you are going fast enough anyway. Running in third kills mileage too much.

Used the same truck to tow a Ranger Z-20 for years. Don't remember what gear ratio. It came with the tow package. Tranny cooler etc. Did just fine. Boat and trailer were just about 4,000 lbs.
