So if I'm reading what you're saying in the last post correctly, the ones that are running last years Humminbird Mega DI (would be a G2n) are not going to be able to use the MinnKota MDI transducer for a down imaging picture????

Don't know for sure, just extrapolating what was posted on the Humminbird forum when the question was asked about using the new MEGA DI+ transducer with a G2N DI MEGA unit.

Read post #23 and #28 here and see what you think:

this is from the Humminbird website software version 1.84 . The latest software update for the Gen2 di mega units

Software support for the new Built-In MEGA DI Transducer [MEGA Capable Models Only] – HELIX units now support Minn Kota trolling motors with Built-In MEGA DI. An appropriate adapter cable must be used

    • For HELIX 9 MEGA G2N, 10 MEGA G2N, and 12 MEGA G2N series units use adapter: MKR-MDI-1 (1852085)
    • HW CHIRP Transducer Support [CHIRP Models Only] – Connected Transducer modes now include a High Wide CHIRP Mode, called “HW CHIRP”. This allows MEGA DI and Built-In MEGA DI transducers to be used with 2D models or without DI pinging.

Wonder what the meaning of HW+MDI is for Built-In?

edited: another thought, the + is between HW and MDI instead of after MDI (MDI+).
MDI+ or MSI+ would be the transducers that are not backwards compatible.

Still looks like the built-in is not 83/200 kHz rated for 2D sonar and can be Dual Spectrum 2D only or Dual Spectrum with DI depending on the unit connected.

these trolling motors may not have mega di + transducers. Since apparently these transducers are compatible with the Gen 2 units but the gen2 can only be networked to a gen 3 unit to get the mega di+ and the same with the solix

Wayne P. This is an excerpt that I found with my September MinnKota Newsletter:

The new trolling motors are compatible with Humminbird SOLIX®, second generation HELIX®, and
ONIX models and will be available in the fall of 2018. For more information visit MinnKotaMotors.com.
Built-In MEGA Down Imaging is not backwards compatible to older motors. It must be integrated with the
motor during manufacturing and will require a new adapter cable to the following Helix® G2 series unit
(adapter cables are not required for Solix® or Onix models)

I am hearing you will need to purchase a heading sensor separately for the new Mega 360 for the Ultrex. If this is true, why not just add it to the cost and not play games with the pricing. That will be another $150 add-on.

Has anyone heard of this to be true?

It does not come with a AS GPS HS antenna.

I am guessing the reason is that if you have a Humminbird and an iPilot LINK Ultrex, you don't need a AS GPS HS since you can use the Minnkota Heading Sensor to mark and display waypoints on the 360 view.
That makes it $150 less for an accessory you don't need.

Will the MK Ultrex MDI work on a HB Helix Mega Chirp GN2 Si unit?

Yes, you just change the Connected Transducer setting to Built-in HW+ MDI.

    You won't have Side Imaging.
