I had no idea that I was so wise buying the last of the 7.3 F250 Lariat crewcabs 16 years ago. I really stepped up there at $32K or $650 for 60 months. At 150K miles, the truck stills great and has many, many more miles left in it.

But the somewhat identical truck today is $64K, and out of this retired man's capacity to make the payments. The value comes in keeping such trucks for the extreme long run.

Mine gets 21.5 mpg on the highway at 75 mph and 11-11.5 mpg pulling my Ranger 521vx. Thats checking gallons with miles driven not the computer it will lie. That engine gives you 420 hp and 460 ft. lbs. of tq. it's really an amazing engine and well worth the price over a 5.3 liter.
Yes, you are correct! And I also agree with you on the 6.2 liter but unfortunately, is just a bit out of my price range. I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab LTZ standard bed now with a 5.3 liter. So I know pretty much know how it pulls the Z520C, but someday I'll make a move to the bigger engine, just not right now.

For those of you who changed from a F150 to a F250 how (or to a 2500, etc.) do you like the change? How much different is the turning radius, etc.? Also, did you have to get a different tow hitch due to the height difference?

I went from an F150 to an F250 towing both a 18' Ranger (374V) and a 911 Nitro. Went from a 2 1/2" drop to a 5 1/4" drop with a reducer. I didn't notice any change in turning radius. Does tow the 911 easier as it's a pretty heavy boat.

I traded a 2015 Silverado with 5.3 for a 2017 this year, same engine, and it definitely has a little more boost. This is my third in a row with the same drive train, and you can tell the difference in power with your eyes closed.

Note, the GM 6.2 recommended fuel is 91 Octane. It will run on 87, but isn't ideal...

Went to YouTube today and came up with a drag race comparison of all competitive trucks except Toyota.

The Ford 3.5 Ecoboost was the winner--by quite a bit over the Chevy 6.2 engine. But the test was at 5000 ft. elevation which wasn't good for the normally aspirated motors.

Right.....the knuckle heads at TFL truck only test at 5000' plus. For hill climbs I get it, but all other tests it makes no sense.

Who buys a 1/2 or 3/4 ton pickup truck to race 0-60 or worries about the fuel economy it gets!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

If you want to race, buy a Corvette.....

If you want fuel economy, buy a Prius.....

Trucks were made to work/pull not to be super fuel efficient or fast.

The big difference between a 1500 and 2500/F250 diesel isn’t just the uphill towing power. It’s the stronger frame, larger breaks, stronger transmission, etc...all are heavy duty and built for towing 18,000k plus pounds. Can a 1500 tow a boat...sure, but the breaks and transmission are not as well equipped as a heavy duty diesel. You also will not see many 300k mile 1500s that can tow just as good as they day they were purchased. However, diesel oil changes, fuel and maintenance (two engine batteries for example) do cost more.

F150 to F250. For a bass boat this change is very excessive, but I did it anyway... Yes larger turning radius, more work to back, rougher ride, more expensive to drive. No reason to move up to a 250/2500 unless you tow almost full time or just want to because you can.
