    2004 Carbed Johnson 150

I think I need to replace the power pack/rev limiter on my 2004 150 carbed Johnson. Intermittently the rev limiter (or it least it acts like it) will kick in between 4500 and 5000. Other times it runs great. It has been doing this off and on for about a year. My question is how hard is it to replaced this? Can a person with basic mechanical skills (like me) do this?

Dont go guessing. May not be the power pack but something else. When it happens again, push your choke/enricher ad see what happens. If nothing then probably electrical but if improves, fuel related. Invest in a manual(OMC/not Seloc or Clymer) if you are going to try it on your own.

    Don't rule out the stator.

I was sure I had an electrical problem with my motor, same symptoms as you are describing. Turned out to be the carbs.
