I’m at lake of the Ozarks, and have never winterized any of my outboards. Only my I/Os.
I “winterized” mine tonight. I put the cover on it, trimmed the motor down, and made sure the charger was plugged in. It’s supposed to get into the twenties tonight and tomorrow night.
Grandpa must have left that part out. The only thing you worry about in the winter down here is to let your motor warm up a bit before running hard. Good luck on the move.
Why winterize when we use our boats year round. I've never even thought about it.

You can use your boat year round in Dallas.

I live in the Little Rock area and just trim the motor down at the ramp to drain the water out. Also do it every other time of year to keep the habit up. A little more water always comes out when I get home and trim it down under the carport. My buddy starts the motor on his for about half a second to blow the rest of the water out. I won't do that anymore on mine even though I know the impeller is still wet enough not to hurt it...or should still be wet enough at the ramp after draining. Other than that I don't even add extra Startron. And go enough where I can get away with just charging the batteries after every trip.

Treat others like you want to be treated when on the water EVEN WHEN IN A TOURNAMENT! No fish is worth having a confrontation because you cut someone off or came in on top of someone.
After hearing all of this...I'm in good shape and happy as heck.
I already practice lowering my motor to it's lowest to get that last bit of water out after towing home. I also use StaBil Marine at fill ups.
Sounds like many of you use Startron...might need to give that go.
Been fishin' since I was 5 years old...Thanks Grandpa!
I now winterize my boat by spending my winters in Texas......

I’m in the DFW area and my winterization procedure is as follows:
1) Put one box in the boat with gloves and hats
2) Trade out my summer rain gear to my winter rain gear
3) Move my frog rod to the bottom rack of my rod storage
4) Make sure I have an updated log in to get my passes to fish Squaw Creek
Pretty simple to fish all winter in the DFW area! Great fishing here year round.
You need a permit to fish Squaw Creek? I fish there all the time without a permit.
