Grandma told little Johnny to got down to the lake to get a bucket of water. So, little Johnny picked up the bucket, and trotted down to the lake. As he was about to dip the bucket into the water, a very large alligator raised his big old head up. Nearly scared little Johnny to death. He trotted not, but ran like the daylights back to the house. Grandma saw the empty bucket and asked little Johnny, "Where's the water?"
"Grandma! There's a big ol' alligator down there in that lake."
Grandma says, "Johnny, that alligator's been in the lake since before you were born. He ain't never hurt nobody. He's more afraid of you than you are of him."
"Grandma, if'in he's more afraid of me than I am of him, then that water's not going to be fit to drink!"
