    trailer modification

    anyone remodel and install swing away tongue on a 98'-99' trailer with surge brake. if so, could before and after pics be posted? thanks

    Some folks have done the mod. Can you post a picture of the tongue area? Some trailer tongue areas cannot be modified. A picture would help us determine if yours can be done.

    I had an 04 187 that I had a shop do that when I bought it. That was back in 06 and I think the price was about 200. worked great. Sorry I don't have any pics. Probably have to install a flex line and bleed the brake system.

    This is what happens, at 60-65 mph, if you just slap it on and ignore simple inspections and minor maintenance such as a little grease, tightening bolts occasionally etc...

    Wow that is same one that came on my trailer. What happened or came loose?

    That happens at 60-65 mph, the tongue is the least of your worries.

    The last picture shows the hitch still attached to the coupler. So, did the swing away tongue fail or did the hitch come out of the receiver and tongue break in the subsequent events??
