    Nice gill from my pond!

I have been trying to get the bluegill population back under control in my small pond and I think I am getting close. Last night while I was trying to catch more small ones to remove I caught a few nice ones too. This was the biggest.

That’s a dandy. I used to have some bluegill that size in my pond, but haven’t done any population control in years, and they are much smaller now. Hate to think how many little ones I’d need to catch to make a difference.

They can get over populated quickly John. My pond is very small and to keep them at a decent size I have to keep it managed.

No we don't eat them. I wouldn't want to eat them just because of the treatments I use to control the weeds and pond scum. The pond is very small probably 25yds across, 60yds long and about 6-8' deep.

Art if you ever want some 4" gills for catfishing let me know.
