    Question Helix Network Goes Berserk

I have a Helix 10 SI Mega G2N and a Helix 7 SI G2N networked with a Ultrex Link going through the Humminbird ethernet switch. Both units have been updated with the latest update.

Yesterday, I powered on the ethernet switch to view the rear transducer and both units went into crazy re-start mode. When they would quit going through the start up screens and go to the sonar screen, as soon as the banner announced that the Link was connected, the units would shut down and re-start again. Finally had to switch the ethernet switch off to make the re-start cycle stop.

What could have caused this and how do I fix it?

On the updates? Yes, as far as restore factory defaults and not shutting the unit down while downloading.

No, the very first part about turning off Auto Upload Data BEFORE you install the new software.

I even printed the instructions and followed to the letter but I don't remember doing that.

Both units seem to be working fine other than this.

Should I do the update again?

That is why your units are re-starting. That setting had to be OFF before installing the new software.

Now you have to install the previous software version, AFTER that is installed, turn OFF Auto Upload Data, then you can reinstall the latest software.
You can use that setting then.

Where can I obtain a previous version. My Helix 10 MSI is doing the same, but I don't have access to the 610 version. If I'm correct in understanding, I can reload previous version, turn off auto updates and then reinstall the 184 version. However, the 610 version isn't on the Humminbird website.

    Thanks in advance.

I still had the older version on the SD card. You might also check your hard drive on your computer to see if it hiding there.
