Yes, you can hook the Suzuki's up to a computer and get the engine hours, stored codes and other information. I currently have mine hooked up to my Lowrance unit and able to see engine hours, but it's not broken down by rpm range though.
In regards of things to be wary of, nothing really with the engine. I'd get the usual done with a compression test and probably change out the fluids & spark plugs upon installation. The biggest complaint that you'll have is finding a prop that works right for your boat. The consensus is that to get a 4 bladed 26P to 28 pitched prop works best.
2018 Bass Cat Lynx w/Suzuki 250SS.
On my older 175 DF I turn the key on and the tachometer needle jumps to the amount of hours multiplied by 10. If the needle jumps to 4000 it has 400 hours.
There may be a similar test built in to the 250 controls.
