Diminishing returns. The rates keep going up. Exponentially as you get older.

All life insurance rates get crazy was you get older. That's why I chose to buy a 30 year term policy that could be converted when I was 39 years old. These days I hear a bunch of people taking AAFMAA policies. I have not looked at them, they must be doing something right.

^^That's who I have. After I retired I upped my small policy to a 250 k 30 year term, and then bought a 25 k whole life. Rates were very competitive. Our house is nearly paid off (<5 yrs) and my wife has her own retirement/401K plan so I we didn't need a lot.

I'm alone kids are grown and doing great. Why pay the astronomical price for nothing? They can use whatever savings I have to throw half of me in the lake and the other half in the national cemetery. $300 a month? Crazy
