    Wasn't there but 700 yards with the right gun in the right caliber in the right hands is a very ethical shot. Sounds like all 3 were present in this situation so my hats of to your son.

    Really? What does it matter how far he shot it? If he had said it was 50yds you'd say why did you get so close?

    No way to get any closers to the Elk but saying that my son and I target practice out to 1000 yards on a regular basis. We have custom guns from Gunwerks and the G7 rangefinder is almost cheating, If we weren't 100% confidant in making a long shot we would not take the shot.

    Heck they’re killing elk here with muzzle loaders at 400+ yards, nothing primitive about muzzleloader hunts anymore.

    Good for you! I have asnt trying to rip on you and sounds like you guys do it right. I see so many guys take their off the shelf 700 slap a $100 scope and think they are a 1000 yard shooter. Again thanks for explaining
