yammy, merc, or rude??
I recently bought a h18 with a 115 etech and so far the boat is awesome we are in the process of trying to find a prop to get the most out of it but right now set up with a 6inch manual jackplate and a 13x21 solas prop it will only get around 48 mph.
Holeshot, speed, carry a load, resale, are a few reasons. Many that dont power with the max hp for their hull "Wish" they would have. It's alot more money to "Upgrade" later. It also sucks paying for a boat that dont meet your expectations.

I would choose the 150 hammer with a 8-10" manual plate. I like the larger motors, never hurts to have a little power in reserve. The hyd. plate is nice to get the last mph out of the boat or in really skinny water. It can also be a pain.
Have the same boat with a 115 and wish I would have got the 150.
