    New Boat Owner here !

don’t know if I’m posting in the right spot but , I got this 1994 Stratos 284 guy before me obviously didn’t take very good care of it. But from day one it’s had a starting issue of course and I usually can get it going but now it just sounds like the solenoid is just clicking. Before I had a issue with the bendix gear on the starter just spinning and not engaging. He gave me a new solenoid but it doesn’t even click 🙄. And there is no I or S on the old one so I can’t even tell if it’s hooked up right. Apparently this is 1995 150hp mercury , but he had put a 200 cowling on it lol. So I took the best pics I could hoping to get some help.

Two things might help get a response. You need to drop down one forum and post in the Mercury - 2.0/ 2.4/ 2.5 Liter High Performance and then be sure to post the serial number. Don (moderator) requires serial number in any of the Mercury forums.

Also, see if you can get a close-up of the solenoid.

In regards to the two smaller terminals- the solenoid should FUNCTION regardless, but ONLY if it is the correct solenoid. Don't try to substitute an AUTOMOBILE solenoid- there is one out there that looks almost identical but is wired differently (internally).
