Evinrude G2 reliability

Been checking out the Evinrude G2. From what i see they have been out since 2015. Cant find much in the way of any major problems. A couple of software issues. How many hours on your G2.

i had the conversation with my son this weekend about how it turned my boat into a completely different animal. i gained 10 mph on a tournament load and 8-9 with just me in the boat. I used 400 gallons of fuel less than last year with more hours this year.

if you have a dealer close to you just do it - the G2 haters will be along to say how bad it is, but i know from experience my Merc and Sho buddies absolutely hate my motor. They know if i get out in front of them they will never catch me.

2017 48 hours no issues. Repower Woke my Boat up and just awesome...

185 hrs and has been flawless. Just ordered a new ranger and you guessed it, it will come with a G2. If you price the merc 4S and add 4 years of platinum warranty to bring it up to the 7 yr std warranty on the G2, the G2 is the best buy.

I talked to one guy that blew his 250 G2. His boat was pretty new along with the motor but man his rig was beat up. He did win the FLW Costa on the delta that weekend.

My 225 G2 has 140 hrs. The VST and an injector went out together. I currently have a steering code fault that I need to get checked out.
My day 2 AM at the Costa event was talking about how strong the new Mercury 4 stroke was that he rode in the day before. That boat was 2 boats ahead of me at blast off and I caught up to him.
G2 reliability is as good as any motor made today and it out performs them all.

what did you have on it before that you gained 10mph?

2000 model Johnson 200. on it's best day i could hit 61 with it - no partner though. Most of the time it would run 57 with a partner and tourney load.

59 hrs on my 250 and 8 1/2 more years of warranty. It’s been flawless and runs incredibly well.

2017 150 HO g2
45hrs
Code 201 which resulted to water getting in the lower unit and killing the actuator motor. I feel this was dealer related as they had the lower unit off to replace the water pump as they told me some came packed with too much grease.
Otherwise a flawless motor and is an excellent motor for my boat.

2016 G2 250HO, 145 hours with zero issues. I have been very happy with it.

2018 300 G2. 65'ish hours on it.
Will push my Lynx with a full tournament load and co-angler 72-73 all day. 75-76 by myself.
Motor has been absolutely flawless. I was fortunate and was able to get the 10 year warranty. No-brainer choice.
