Chester County Bass Masters held their 4th of five opens for the 2018 season on October 20th out of Anchor Marine in Northeast Maryland.

39 Teams showed up on a dreary Fall day that continued the wet weather pattern on the Upper Bay since mid summer.
Another rain front moved thru the area from midnight till 6:30 am, stopping just before daybreak. The tournament launched at 7:00 under cloudy skies. Air temps were around 55 with light wind and a forecast high of 64. West winds picked up to 10 - 15 with some higher gusts, partial sun finally emerged around 10.

Water temps were in the 56-61 degree range depending on where you fished. Water color was stained in the NE and still off colored out on the Flats..
Launch was on rising tide with high around 8 am and anglers due back at 2:30.

23 five fish limits were brought in with 3 other teams having 4 fish.

16 double digit weights were brought to the scales. 2 bass over 5 pounds were weighed in with 5 over 4 pounds.

8 cash places were paid, along with 11 sponsor prizes from Susquehanna Tackle, Bass Cat, River Bottom Reels, Cabela's of Christiana Mall, Sunoco, Hi Seas fishing line, Zee Bait Company, Dobyns Rods, GRT Jigs, and Boomerang Tool Company

16 boats participated in the $ 60 option pot which paid out 2 spots.

$ 4,158 in cash was paid along with $ 650 in sponsor prizes.

First place cash payout and a pair of championship plaques went to the team of Keith Barlow and Andrew Heivly who put together an outstanding 5 fish limit weighing in at 17.95 pounds

The team added to their cash pile by taking home the $390 TX Lunker pot with a gigantic 6.28 Largemouth. Keith and Andrew also entered the $ 60 Option Pot and it paid off with the top spot and added $576 to their bank.
The team also received a pair of 40 % off Cards for Dobyns rods

Second place cash went to the team of Duane Essick and Jay Pirollo who put together a strong 5 fish limit weighing in at 16.32 Lbs. and a big fish of 4.46 Lbs.
Duane and Jay also have a 1st place finish in the August Open keeping them in contention to be 2018 Open Champions. Congrats on a nice bag on a tough weather day.


Third place money was won by the team of Ed Donnelly and Rich Byrne who brought a 5 fish limit to the scales that topped out at 14.54 Lbs. Nice weight for the day.
The Team also won the Susquehanna Fishing Tackle $ 50 card second lunker award with a 5.01 largemouth.


Fourth place dough was earned by the team of Jim Stewart and Chris Dupont. They brought 5 fish to the scales that weighed in at 13.97 Lbs with a big fish of 3.93 Lbs. Nice work for the day.


Fifth place coin went to the team of John Hansen and John Hansen IV who weighed in a nice 5 fish limit of 13.31 Lbs. with a big fish of 3.34 Lbs. Great work by the youngest competitor in the TX.


Sixth place cash was collected by the team of Luke Schrader and Cliff Humphreys who brought 5 fish to the scales for 12.88 Lbs. with a big fish of 3.82 Lbs.
Luke and Cliff also entered the $ 60 Option Pot and it paid off with the 2nd spot adding $384 to their winnings. Good decision to enter the side pot.


Seventh place spot was snagged by the team of Joe Thompson and Greg DiPalma with a 5 fish limit weighing 12.24 Lbs. and a big fish of 3.05 Lbs.


Eighth place and the final money spot went to the team of Mike Piccollo and Bill Ville with a limit of bass going 11.91 pounds with a big fish of 3.05 Lbs.


9th thru 17th spots won sponsor gift cards or products from Cabela's Christiana Mall, Zee Bait Company, River Bottom Reels, Boomerang Tool Company, Hi Seas Line, Dobyns Rods, Sunoco and GRT Jigs

First boat to finish just out of the money was awarded a $ 50.00 gift card from Cabela's at the Christiana Mall.
9th position and the The Cabela's card was collected by the Ken Cassella who brought 5 fish to the scales for 11.88 Lbs. with a 3.98 Lb. big fish.


Tenth place and a $ 50.00 River Bottom Reels card for reel repair and maintenance from Kevin Geesey in Elizabethown, Pa. was collected by the team of Don White and Ralph Kappenstein who brought 5 fish to the table for 11.62 Lbs. and a big fish of 3.81 Lbs.


Eleventh place went to the team of Sean Geerlof and Stan Horne who brought 5 fish to the scales for 11.50 Lbs. with a big fish of 4.01 pounds to take home a $ 50.00 Zee Bait Company card, a local plastic manufacturer from Chester Springs, Pa.


Twelfth spot and 2 pair of Boomerang Tool Company line snips went to the team of Mike Sentore and Sean McKee who brought 5 fish to the scales for 11.31 Lbs. with a big fish of 3.23 Lbs.

13th place took home $50.00 in Hi Seas fishing line, Tom Heckman and Bill Bowe weighed in 5 bass for 11.23 pounds with a big fish of 2.45 Lbs.


14th place earned a $ 30.00 GRT Jigs card from Scott Dise in York, Pa. Terry Roberson and Andrew Chianese brought in 5 bass for 11.11 Lbs.and a big fish of 3.56 Lbs.


15th spot took the $ 25.00 Sunoco gas card, Jesse Buss and Daniel Fillippo weighed in 5 bass for 10.64 Lbs.and a big fish of 4.52 pounds.


16th spot won a pair of heavy duty zippered Dobyns weigh bags. Lou Croce brought in a limit for 10.64 pounds to take home the prize.


17th and final sponsor spot took home a pair of 40 % off Dobyns rods cards. John Oldaker and Ron Caldeira weighed in 9.81 pounds to take home a great discount savings on great rods.
