With the insane amount of squirrels this year I would believe it. I saw 3 squirrels swimming in open water this year going from island to island. Never seen a squirrel swim before and honestly I never knew they could. Guess live target needs to come out with squirrel and chipmunk topwater baits....

A Wood I agree completely. Had never seen a squirrel swim before. Buddy and I were in the Ct River. Over the course of two days we saw at minimum 20 squirrels swimming from one shore to the other and every single squirrel was swimming from NH to VT side. Not one squirrel swimming the other way from VT to NH. Lol thought it was a fluke and then saw a bunch swimming from island to island on Squam.

Fished the Conn River out of Gill and I to never seen so many squirrels swimming from side to side had to take videos of them . Told my buddy after watching one make it to the other side that I would not fish there because they made it to the other side , sweet how they use there tails to steer

Wow. Same thing happened to me. Was out on Winnipesaukee about a month ago and saw a squirrel swimming. I had the same reaction--never knew a squirrel could swim.
I am serious. And don't call me Shirley.

saw this years ago on the Hudson river in NY they said it was the usual migration that happens every so often and even had one climb up the transom run under the console and stay there for about an hour or so then came out looked at us and then just jumped back in the water and swam away. very strange in deed.

Haha. I might have eaten a tree rat before...
Shot one as a kid and my dad said you eat what you shoot. So I ate a grey squirrel and yes it tasted like chicken.....
