    1/2" impact recommendations

Morning guys, looking for recommendations on a good 1/2" impact. I have a basic aircat right now (650 ft/lb off i believe), but would like something a little stronger. Would like to stay around 200ish. Do all my own tire rotations, suspension stuff occasionally (F350).

Bluepoint off a snap on truck. Don't tighten the lugs with it. It'll break a stud before you know it.

I second this recommendation. Convinced work to buy these a couple years ago and have had great success with them. Even sat a 21 ton load on top of one while loading a truck one day. Destroyed the battery but the impact itself is still going strong. I even sent a picture of it to Milwaukee to show how we real world tested it for them lol. But be careful if using it to tighten lugnuts for sure. It would snap them or strip them in an instant if they gawled up or cross threaded.

We have that and the 3/4 drive at work, very strong and the batteries last a while.

Bumping up your air pressure will help a lot. Our 3/4" gun was not available so we put 200 PSI breathing air through my 1/2" Snap On. Had to pull the trigger before opening up the air but it did the trick. Not really recommended but it was kind of fun...

Chicago Pneumatic. Their air tools are second to none.

I’ve got the Milwaukee. Got it on eBay for a little over $200 with 2 batteries. Never use the air anymore.

Hate to say it but the Harbor Freight Earthquake line is pretty darn good. Look up the comparisons Vs Snap On.

Chicago and Florida pneumatic are both great. Not sure why you need more than 650-700 pounds for work on cars. If you are having problems with a gun rated at 650 it is probably because you are not getting the air to it. 1/2 hose and fittings that do not restrict are needed to get the full rated torque. Most quick connects restrict airflow pretty bad.

I have the Milwaukee M18 Fuel Mid Torque impact wrench. I keep it in the truck in case I need to change a flat on my truck or trailers. Great for changing over summer/winter tires/wheels. I have air tools too but this works pretty good, especially away from home!

well, I just had a mechanic out to work on my skid steer, he had cordless impact, he said it would put his snap on air impact to shame. the one he used on my machine was a dewalt, I have heard Milwaukee makes a excellent one, and even the cheaper Harbor Freight cordless get good reviews, just something for you to consider.

I second a good battery impact, if not get the harbor freight earthquake. I have the cheaper earthquake and it's been great for 5 years.

6.2 scfm compressor, 30 gal, 1/2" hose. What kind of fittings would help with? Or just hook hose straight to it?

I am thinking about the electric route too. Im a makita guy, but it would be nice to have something to throw in the toolbox and not worry about air.

Makita 1/2" cordless impact. More power than you'll need.

Get the Milwaukee Fuel 1/2”. We have about a dz of them for work and they are a beast! We had all Dewalts then one broke and the store I went to to replace it only had Milwaukee so I bought one. Needless to say I replaced all my Dewalts because after using a Milwaukee to tighten bolts the Dewalt couldn’t break em loose.
