Steps to diagnose generic flashing "F" fault on iPilot remote?

I just purchased a used boat that has an iPilot Riptide ST 80lb bow-mounted, and it is throwing a fault when attempting to turn it on after it is deployed (blinking F on remote and beeps from motor). It will continue to show a fault for a minute or two, and then work.

I've already replaced all of the wiring and terminals leading to the wire that came with the trolling motor, and the batteries are 100% charged.

Previous owner did not disconnect trolling motor from batteries when charging.

What steps should I begin to take to try and debug what the issue is? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Did you try changing the batteries on the remote? I would do that first. If that don't fix the problem then I would replace the remote. Make sure you order the right remote. Yours is non Bluetooth. Make sure you have the serial number of the motor. It is located inside the mount. Motor has to be stored to see it. Left side wall.
