    Invasive weed

Most should know by know that Pelahatchie Bay on Ross Barnett is closed to all boat traffic for at least 6 months. The MS wildlife is trying to keep a invasive weed from getting into the rest of the resivoiur. Hope they can get rid of it.

The plant is called Giant Salvinia and grows 8 to ten inches per day and can live out of water for a week. It probably came in by a boat bilge or trailer. It has already chocked off much of the bay. They hope to kill it by lowering the lake and hoping freezing temperatures this winter will kill it. Trying to keep it out of the main lake.

With the great job they do controlling other areas of the reservoir what could go wrong. I know I'll sleep better knowing the guys who are in control of the current spraying program has it under control. And yes, that was dripping with sarcasm. The current spraying program is a complete joke.
