Give em a few years then take a leap and get one .
I had mine over a year. No issues and best investment I have made besides Garmin Livescope
I installed an "re-manufactured" Ultrex on Sat, took it out and lake tested it without any problems. then fished a tournament yesterday and it was flawless until about 11am and then it just shut off. I got it to come back on, but only for a few min and it shut off again. Then wouldn't come back on at all. I checked all the connections, circuit breakers etc. and they all were good. I did not have a volt meter to check voltage however. After about 20 min of fishing a wind blown bank, I tried it again and it came back on! Worked perfectly the rest of the day...
Now I did have it running on constant at speed 7 for about 10 min right before it died the first time...was covering water LOL! So I will re-check everything again and make sure I didn't miss anything. Also, I have heard that if there is any drop in amperage/voltage the motor will not run. So I guess it's possible that it dropped too low and the motor died?
Anyway, it is an amazing trolling motor and really is a game changer! Being able to put it on a low speed and point it in a direction on my graph and it just follows it is so cool! Then I just focus on fishing and where my next cast is!

Could have been a circuit breaker opening and closing
Interesting...a breaker could open and then close? I was thinking it had to do with heat and running it on high speed constantly for that long...

Depends on the breaker that's in your boat. Some will trip and reset themselves.
Thanks for the responses...I'll have to look at the ones on the trolling motor batteries. They look like the standard breakers and have two small red caps on them.

Also, if you have any loose or bad connections, they can heat up and act like a breaker, causing a loss of current til they cool back down. For this reasons check ALL connections, including those in a plug if equipped.

It's a crappy picture, but this is what I have. And I do have the small inline fuses for the battery charger as well...

Thanks John, I did check them all and they seemed tight. But I will go back through and tighten everything up again!

Everything was pretty dirty in there when I bought the boat, and that is when that pic was taken. I have cleaned it up since then, but I will focus on the connections and make sure they are both tight & clean! Thanks!

If not mistaken those are self re-setting breakers.
What Amp breakers are they ??
Sounds like there to small for the new motor.
I'm not sure what size they are, I'll have to check. But they were there for the existing 36v Fortrex motor that I replaced. I converted it to 24v for the new Ultrex, but didn't change any of the breakers...

May be a breaker issue. That small, re-settable push button in line style breaker that is in the pic is available only up to 50 amps. When you get into the larger 60 amp breaker needed for the Ultrex, the breaker style is completely different, much larger, and more expensive.

Yes. Or this one, which has a cut off on it so you can disconnect while charging (if you don't have a battery cut off yet, and Bass Cat doesn't normally install them for the troller from the factory). Looks like the one you posted doesn't have a cut off.
