I have not fished these yet, But I made these bladed jigs for deep winter fishing

3/4, 1oz, and 1 1/2oz football heads 5/0 hook. I fish some colored water and wanted to drag and make some extra noise. I think these will get the job done.

Those look pretty sweet! I bet they would work in the dog days of summer as well.

This summer, I slayed the bass on these in 20-25ft of water in 1/2oz... But I had to really slow roll them.

One of my favorite techniques for bladed jigs is to slow roll them on bottom.

Those look AWESOME! How do you attach the blade directly to the hook like that?

Yeah good point Champ! Everyone else seems to use a Mustad Fastach style without the swivel to attach the blade to bait. I thought it was to give space for the coffin style blade to wobble but these looks sweet...very compact!

Nice. We have a local guy who makes them big like yours. He posts some nice pictures of his deep catches.

I’d say so. I made some “heavys” for the same reason and it really made a difference.

Your inspiring me. I have one more tournament that is usually won on deep fish. I think I may scrap some parts off some bladed jigs and put them on some one ounce heads.

I have a tournament tomorrow, But I dont think they would apply to this lake and fishery... I may try them for a few min anyway. I have some other baits I'm finishing today that I will be using for sure.

Board sponsor North Metro Bass Academy has been sort of silently making and selling football head bladed jigs for some time. It took Steve (NMBA owner) kicking my butt with kickers he caught on them before I finally got some. Most recently that was a 6 and a 5+ that anchored a 23 lb bag. You don't get many bites on them, around here at least, but the bites you get are BIG ones. I've not had success using it as a primary or search bait, but more of a "clean up" bait after I've beat up a spot just to keep them honest. I've used them in 3/4 and 1 oz sizes primarily. That one bonus bite you get from it almost always is one that makes a massive difference though. Of course everyone else's mileage may vary!
