If you want to stay with AGM, that Sears battery is still available at an Odyssey dealer. 31M PC 2150 is the identical one. You will certainly pay more than you did at Sears though. Odyssey made them for Sears back then. The Northstar/X2 from Batteries Plus is popular now, and a very good choice.

Lithium Pros offer a 31 series cranking battery that offers 1500 CA at only 30 pnds. They also have a 1200 for a little less cash. They also only take an hr to charge. When my Northstar dies Im going with Lith Pros. That Northstar is a HEAVY MO FO sick of moving it every time I have to work on the boat ( Gambler = limitited room in the bilge / battery area). They are also supposed to last ten years.

Yes they are, but both are super high quality beasts with good warranty. The Odyssey was a bargain when Sears sold them. If you want to go with a flooded battery, then the commercial one Mike suggested above will work, but don't expect 6 years from it. But it is half the price of the AGM. Flooded 31 commercial batteries are all I use for cranking my Opti. Last one lasted nearly four seasons. The 31 Deka AGM suggested above is a crap shoot. It just meets minimum cranking cca for the Opti, leaving no leeway for your accessories. It has worked for some, and hasn't for others.

Check the mercury forum, there’s a list of batteries that have been tested and meet the requirements
