Has anyone replaced the rope in the rubrail with a rubber type material? I'd like to install some of the led rubrail lights that are single light through holes in the rubber.

Because the second post on this thread had absolutely nothing to do with a rubber insert of any kind and I don’t want to buy a roll of the stuff you posted just to turn around and throw it in the trash can. When I was replacing my rope insert a few years ago, I went to several auto parts stores and they couldn’t find anything in the right size that would fit into the channel and that’s why I asked if you actually used it. If it works then I’d be glad to buy some. Did you have to put a little glue into the channel or is the hose snug enough to not fall out?
I originally thought air line would work, but it was all too big. Then looked at PEX, too small. Such an odd size.
Oh and thank you for posting that and for the thread link, I had given up on finding anything in the right size other than rope.

Mine is 3/8”. I had to tap it in. It fits perfectly snug with no glue.
Where do you get the LED lights from? I'd like to do the same thing. I'm gonna replace the whole rub rail though...mine's got some scrapes and scratches I'd like to get rid of...
I used vinyl tubing sold by a company who makes rub rails, TACO. Looks nicer than original rope. Modernizes the look .
Sold by boat dealers. Possibly online also .
