    Rod Storage

Little idea i came up with rod storage in my garage, Bottom metal piece i cut on a waterjet here at work and then bent myself, The top part is just 2"x 48" 16ga metal strips with foam glued to it. You can buy foam from Uline fairly cheap. The whole thing i probably got 60 dollars in it. USA

Use 4"x4" wood on the bottom, cheaper and easier to work with.

Nice job. One thing I would add are reel covers. My garage, at least, tends to get dusty and you don't want dust, and particularly anything gritty into the reel.

How far apart do have the holes for the rod butts drilled?

I too ran out of wall space before I ran out of rods, so I made a storage rack that hangs the rods 3 deep. It stores 24 rods in a 3 foot wall space. Mine is mounted between 2 closet storage towers giving me a space for bulk lure storage, but it can be mounted on shelf brackets, yielding an inexpensive solution to rod storage. I have a PDF with construction details; PM your email address if interested.

Here's one more.. Can still park two vehicles in the garage and walk by them with the reels up out of the way. Rod tips are flat against the wall.

I like it! I did something similar in my basement for when I have rods in the house and not in the boat. Couple boards, cut down some dowels, and drilled a bunch of holes...Then screwed em on the wall. 2 dowels on the reel side to hold it upright and one on the tip side. I did a pretty terrible job of it since it just popped into my head while being annoyed at leaning them against the wall and used stuff I scrounged up around the house.

It's above my metal top work table so I can re-rig or respool and then hang it back up.

One day I might redo it and actually take my time to make it look decent, but this works well for now.

i used a 2x4's and cut some holes all the way down one side with a hole saw. then angle cut the ends so I could screw them to the wall. Works great.
