There's money in catching a bass
as long as you're fishing first class.

It is an entirely accurate description of the individuals that are participants in Professional Fishing she just reported very factual information throughout the article so why is that a problem?
We at the BBC don't like Fake News and shouldn't be too concerned when someone from the media who is not a Billy Bassmaster writes a fair, positive and highly complimentary account of Professional Bass Fishing because she put obvious facts in it.
Holy cow some of those comments are hilarious!
'The article doesn't discuss how the poor animals are tricked into biting a metal hook'
Or the comment how they're beaten to death....
Hillarious!
The race / gender comment was unnecessary and especially stood out since the article was accompanied by a picture of MDJ.
The article did mention a couple of business things that I had never read about such as the cost of the videotographer and the management agent group that Ike has. No wonder he is always talking about having a union.

Factual? Maybe.
Why didn’t the author include their shoe sizes? 40 yd dash times?... because it was’t relevant.
Apparently, the author thought skin color was relevant. It is part of an ongoing media campaign to instill upon us that skin color is relevant.
Then, when anyone remotely defines what it is relevant to, they can point and yell racist!

That's it KVD will never be a supreme court judge. Thought she did a great job. Any news in Major Media for fishing is a good thing.
While the article was done very well, look at the comments on it. Granted, it's the NYT so you have to account for the type of audience, but this is why I don't believe the we will ever "grow the sport" beyond it's hardcore base and why ESPN failed to "grow the sport" at a time when TV audiences were much larger than they are today and social media didn't exist and eat up so much of an advertisers budget. Those comments added to the fact some networks will not allow hook and bullet advertising or guns......tournament fishing will likely be next.
many of the big "non-endemic" advertisers we hear so much about with MLF/BPT and how it will allow pros to make millions, are in New York City. The people at those big ad agencies ARE the NY Times reader!!!!!! Do you think some of those people making those comments on the article will spend $5 million of Coca-cola's budget on MLF?
it's a nice dream, but that's all it is.
Just Mr's. Morris or Kroenke calling in a favor to the NYT... Dan
Bass talk live podcast was complaining about this not being in the paper last week. Well eat your heart out.
Fake news, failing news paper
the outdoor segment for UA pales in comparison to their team sports division. I don't think Nike is concerned with UA in the outdoor space and UA is actually spending way less in the fish/hunt arena then they were ten years ago. to "grow the sport" they need way more money then what they get from UA or HUK or Carhartt.
I pretty much just skipped to the comments and sure enough the 2nd one was a PETA member lol
not dissing Squincher, but to really grow the sport and angler pay they need Coke or Pepsi or Gatoraide..............and that just won't happen because fishing offends people as we see in the NYT comments.
