New Helix 12 SI

I have a new Helix 12 Si on the way and wanted to get some advice. I currently have a 1198 on the console and a 1199 on the bow. I plan on leaving those and linking the new Helix on the console and use the 1198 as mapping only. What should the software version be of this unit? Is the 1.84 what should be installed? Been reading about problems.

The software the Helix has will be what was current on day the unit was made. You won't know until you get the unit. Ask about the software version then.

I should have made myself more clear Wayne. Yes, I know that that may not be the version that my unit has, but I was asking is that the latest update and should that be installed on the unit. Thanks

Still depends on the software the unit has. THEN you can ask if the version it has is better or worse than the current one. Some are not pleased with the current software.

Finally got my unit on and fired up. It’s a Mega SI g2n. The current software is 1.610. Does this need to be updated? Does it matter what software version is on my 1198 and 1199 that will be linked with the Helix? Thanks

I'm staying at 1.610 until something more stable is offered. I've experienced a few shallow water wrong depth readings but it's not every time out.

The 1198 should have the current software since Ethernet capability was added during its lifetime.
The 1199 should have current software since cross-sharing sonar technology was added during it lifetime.

I updated because I couldn't stand the depth readout issue. I intentionally ran my helix the last 3 trips out and it's working fine, even with ipilot link. I did follow the instructions on the update page though.
