New 2015 HB 20, 150HP SHO. It came rigged with a 21" 3 blade. no Jack Plate. Seems to be turning too high RPM. Still in break in so have not opened it up. Any suggestions? I am concerned about being able to return the prop if I nick it while I am in the break in period. A friend told me he knew someone who was running a 25" Tempest on the same rig??
cant determine the needed pitch unless we know a max achieved rpm and prop to pad measurement with your current set up. What brand 3blade? Until break in, run it in areas with a known depth so you dont hit bottom if you are worried about damaging it. if you do damage it, it can be fixed and sold on the fare sale board here. that will recoup some cost of a new prop
As to the 25" tempest set up. Find out that guys P2P, rpms and if he has a jackplate. Just because he is turning a 25 tempest doesn't mean its the right size/prop

need a little help guys, I've got a 2014 h18 with 115 yamaha 4 stroke, 10" atlas jack plate, with a 19 pinch prop, when I get 43 mph or 5100rpms or above it starts porpoising. It gets out of water great,, but when I trim up & reaches 43 or above starts getting crazy, should I go with a 21 pinch prop or should I make adjustments on my jackplate, if so how low should I be below pad?
Id go 3.5" below pad and play with it from there but your prop is the issue. Throw on a Pro series (19-21"), trophy 19". Those will for sure give you better results. You need to get that motor to spin 5800-6000 rpms and you should see 47-50mph. What prop do you currently have? I assume is it a stock powertec 19 3 blade PTR. Throw it away
I see you are in white castle. I have a good buddy from there.
Thanks, who's your buddy?

Not much on here re the X21. Thought I would post to see what I could stir up. I have a 2016 X21 with 225 Merc Pro XS. Still playing with setup but I can tell you the boat did not like the addition of 2 Talons. Tried Tempest 25=5600rpm's and 68 with full load but blows out bad (small hole PVs) at 3 1/2 above pad and has some porpoise at 4 1/2 below pad but only slight blowout. Tried 24 four blade Fury with 4 holes plugged- no blowout--and 5400 rpm's = 66mph.
Thinking of trying a 24P 3 blade fury which should eliminate the blowout of the Tempest and be about the same speed. Any other suggestions?

took back to dealer, switched out to 6" zlock jackplate and now have it lifted to 2 7/8" below pad, going to test in next couple of weeks.
do NOT put a 10" jack plate on the x-series bass boat, they do not like it and need to max out lift to get the boat driveable.
