Big small mouth and spotted bass will come out of deep clear water and kill it. If you think you see something pacing your bait start burning it.
I use the long a in the winter but never like that

I wish they still made the Tungsten terminator spinnerbait. It was smaller, but heavy(7/16). I still have a few left. Skeet Reese model was the best.

I always have a Kalin grub on the deck here on Lake St. Clair.
    Charlie Brewer slider worms
K&E worm, purple with white dots
    Mepps Spinners
    Poes Crankbaits
Johnson Silver minnow with white uncle Josh trailer
    Beetle spins
These are a few I can remember at the moment that I have caught a bunch on. The Beatle spin is a great lure to use when teaching kids how to cast and retrieve, they catch a ton of different fish. One more I forgot to mention, Buck Perry's spoon plugs. This use to be a essential tool for figuring a lake out prior to the sophisticated modern day electronics. My dad and I used them a lot and caught tons of fish on them. A lot of the fish caught were around bottom composition changes, hard to soft bottom transitions. Spoon plugging is a lot of work, but it was very effective back in the day.

Original Berkley Power Craw. Used that as a jig trailer year round and caught so many big fish with it. I haven't rigged one as a trailer in over 10 years despite having hundreds in storage.

Same here with the twin tail spider grub.

Started out throwing a 7or 6 inch Berkley worm in black weightless or t-rigged. Switched to a slider head with a 4 inch Berkley red shad. Then to a 4 inch grub Yami in black on a ballhead or weightless. Then the spider grub Yami in black on a ball head or weightless. Then the Shakey head worm Berkley in green pumpkin or a black Yami kuttail on a shakey head. That was my basic progression of go-to baits first 20 years I bass fished. I also mixed in a half dozen power techniques but the majority of my fish were caught with those baits.

After not throwing them the last 10 years if I try to pick up a rod rigged with any of these I have no confidence.

This is a fun thread - lots of memories . . . I'll throw the mud bug out there since it hasn't been mentioned.
