Question NEED HELP SOLVING A PROBLEM

Grandson just bought a 2017 Tracker Pro Team 175 TXW. It has a hand controlled Trolling Motor. This boat has a recessed space for the foot controlled pedal in the deck. He wants to fill that space as it is not needed. Contracted Tracker but nothing available. Anybody got an ideas? Thank you for your time!

Just one idea, cut a piece of wood (might have to screw a few boards together) to fill the hole, then carpet it. If you take you time and make it fit nicely it should bee flush with the deck and look decent.

how about getting a piece of aluminum and having it cut to fit and carpet it or even put hinges on it so he can use it for trash or something ,just thinking out loud.

I like the carpeted block wood idea. If you carpet the sides and its sized correctly, it should hold in place by friction. Any other method you will need to mount it.

Then in the future it remains available if he changes to a foot control trolling motor.

You could find a fabricator by you and get a custom tool / cup holder made where the foot pedal would be???

I bought a piece of 1/8" aluminum plate (smooth not diamond) slightly larger than the opening and cut it to size on my bandsaw. Then used the existing screw holes in the footpedal enclosure to screw it over top of the hole. Covered it with adhesive non-skid material from ACE hardware. Worked out great. Almost flush with the front deck. Here is a picture of how it turned out with my Ulterra pedal sitting on top.
