th marine g force handle/cable wearing groove in minn Kota

Installed a TH marine gforce handle about 1 year ago. I have noticed that it is starting to wearing a groove in fortrex mount where cable comes out. I took it off tonight and put vinyl tubing over cable to reduce the wear and also noticed where it has almost wore all the red vinyl off where it goes around the pin inside the bracket. Any ideas how to prevent more damage or should I just go back with different cord. I like the setup just don’t want to mess bracket up. Thanks

There is an aftermarket replacement kit that provides a metal flared bushing to prevent that from happening. Just can't remember what brand it was.

Minn Kota made the nut kit for their Trolling Motors in the early 2000s when they had an issue. I bet it' still available.

Danny millers Big Red system has the bushing that fixes the chafing of the cable.

I created my own stainless steel bushing. After which, it exposed a lack of quality in the G Force cable (Not stainless). It ended up breaking on me. I went on Tackle Warehouse and bought a stainless cable and have had no issues since.

Lesser grades of stainless will rust.

Is this a problem with Ultrex too?
If so what does Jones Trolling Motor suggest as replacement?

Poor old me I just use a rope. If it breaks I can usually (although I have not broken one in a long time) tie it back together on the water until I get back.
