    Lea,
Thanks for the info! The guys are saying it's a 180 SCX I believe. What does the X mean? SC is single console. Also, NADA must list Champion boats by the model year instead of the year built. I say this because I didn't see a 180 SCX listed in 1992, therefore I assumed it was a 184...wrong I was!

It sounds like you have found the info you need so Congrats on your new boat. That era is when I really started fishing so I love to see an older, well taken care of boat! And there’s nothing like the sound and smell of that Merc humming in the morning! I hope you have years of great fishing out of her!

I would check all hoses and valves myself. You can learn a lot with a garden hose and a flashlight! Fill that livewell and drain it and make sure he wasn’t blocking a discharge hole in the transom because of a bad rubber hose or connection. Good Luck!

The X meant Elite on the older rigs. But most were "elites"...which simply meant extras were standards,,,if that makes any sense...lol

If you want a functioning live well system, replace any parts you find causing the leak. Not huge problem and easy fix!

And, yes, NADA and other like sites do use model year, not year built.

Post more pictures of the hull and we'll figure out if it's a 18'4 or 180.

    It's DEFINITELY a 180.
There was never a 184 with the same angles built. 186 came out in '95. So it just leaves the orphan 180 as the choice.

    180 is rated for a 140 and a 184 is rated for 175......180 is 17'5" long 184 is 18'3" long...180 would have to be a 1992 as they didn't have a 180 in 1993....this information i got from here...whether it's right i don't know.

My fishing buddy owned a 1993 180 for 25 years. His was rated for 175 and looks identical to the OP’s pics. It was an awesome boat to fish from.

You can put plugs in the transom for the livewell fill to keep water out if the valves are leaking by I am currently. Replacing the valves is going to be a winter project since I have 3 trolling motor batteries that have to be moved and I don't want to mess with it till I can't fish.

Back around 1994, I owned a 1993 180DCX with 175EFI Mariner for about a year. As DRUTHOMAS states, mine was an awesome fishing boat as well. But it was very sensitive to weight and I could never tune it to perform to my expectations. I sold it to a gentleman who still fishes a lot of local tournaments out of it to this day and he loves it.

I hate to rain on your parade but grout-scout is right... the flange on the livewell overflow thru transom fitting (far right) is broken off. Someone has buttered it up with silicone. That's a crappy shortcut to a place you don't want to go and you may already be there. I can't tell whats going on with the livewell drain fitting or the aerator fitting (under the screen cover on the far left). They could be broken as well. They are all plastic fittings and old. They break. That's just what they do.

I wouldn't put that boat in the water until you fix those things. Search this forum for wet transom. If the core of the transom gets wet from a cracked thru hull fitting or one of those screws you have there or from any other place, you'll have hell to pay.

Yep, the 180 was only built as a 1993 model. There were 180s built in 92, but they were built after the model year change, so are 93 models.

Bruce...you were right to be unsure about the accuracy of that link. It is waaaay off. The 184 is 18'4" and 175 rated. The 180 is 18' even, and also 175 rated. Whomever gathered the "info" in that link should have their knuckles rapped!. And again, the 180 was only built as a 1993 model.

    86,
Looks like I will be spending the weekend doing some plumbing! The overflow drain is stainless so I’m not sure it had a flange.
Any recommendations on pump replacements? I’ll be doing them all while I’m at it.

Wow! Where do you store all that info Lea?
Do you have any emailable info on the 180 you can share Lea? i.e diagrams, specs, etc
    Thank you!

I'd like to say I have it all memorized.....LOL! I was fortunate to be able to work with Champion personnel on brochures, and to attend dealer meetings when Champion was being built in TN. President, Don Wood, is a friend and we keep in touch. I have most of the brochures from 1985 to 2009. And, most importantly, the information I have learned from our forum members is incredible!!!

I'm sorry, but I am on old fashioned dial-up and have no way of copying or emailing info. The only specs I have are basic. Length, beam, max hp. and like that.

I am guessing you did not get an owner's manual from the seller? Perhaps some of our members can help there. Manuals were not model specific...and some even covered several years, so....if anyone has one which might cover the 180, thanks in advance!
