A new bridge needs to be built between Plaquemine and White Castle but that will never happen. The right people don't own the land and the politicidans can't get many votes by doing this. There is no sense in putting another bridge in West Baton Rouge as it doesn't take the traffic far enough away from the congestion. In addition to a new bridge a loop is needed somewhere between Gonzales and Sorrento connecting I 10 to I 12. Many of the plant workers come from Livingston parish and other areas near there.
What really aggravates me about the bridge is DOTD not just calling Boh Bros to do this repair. They are the only company with the track record to get the job done quickly. Instead we played politics and went with someone else who will take forever.

Update: Ths Sunshine bridge is open with one lane both east and west bound. Light traffic only!
