I would never fish in that weather. I do kinda agree with Randy seeing they are the most experienced anglers in the World. This is weather For Rangers 619 or 620's. If you lose your boat- they will tow in it in after winds have calmed down even if it take couple days.
Bass boats are designed to run fast -not cut through large waves
an experienced boater would know when to go and when to stay on the hill
hes a gem in person..
Not sure I feel more confident driving through 5-6ft waves than driving through traffic, and I've been in 5-6ft waves quite a bit. Seems like a dumb comparison.
I’ll bet his opinion is in the very small minority. Poll the boaters and non-boaters and you’ll see that it was the right decision. Mead is a monster with those kind of winds.
And when someone got hurt he would be the first to blame the TD for allowing the tournament to go.
Navigating Meads 5-6ft waves is not easy nor is it safe. Cry all you want Randy but it was the RIGHT decision. If he is a real fisherman he will figure out how to catch them post cold front on a crystal clear lake. And.... the winds still gonna blow tomorrow..... gusts to 30... So have fun in that mess.....

Here's the kicker..."had" the tournament gone on as scheduled and "had" he suffered a catastrophic accident, he would be the first in line to sue the tournament organizers for allowing the event to take place. That's why safety is and always will be at the forefront of tournament directors decision making.

Guys that say their freshwater bass boat can handle xyz wave heights are the best.
Does he own a Ranger?
I agree with everything he said.
Randy who???......
Can someone give me a crash course on who this guy is? Sounds like it's unanimous that everyone on here thinks highly of him.
How come when I see his name I think of that Mall Cop movie.
Same. This isn't as weekend local club tournament. Being one of the best should include your skill level at being a boater as well. You can choose to stay close if you don't want to make that run or make it work if you think you are that good. They have already signed a waiver so let em go if they choose.
Lower level like BFL or club tournament and I would certainly say cancel by all means.
Maybe yall don't quite understand just how bad it is...… WINDS...North 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
Dangerous boating conditions can be expected on area lakes
during the advisory period. These winds will create very
choppy waters and generate large waves which could capsize or
swamp small craft.

Like a couple of other posters said, no bass boat regardless of brand should be out in legitimate 5-6 foot waves. You're begging to get someone hurt or killed. Easy call if I'm a tournament official. Don't know anything about Randy, but in this case his post is foolish.
